Where's Waldo Movie Coming

There's a Where's Waldo movie coming up and if you don't know who Waldo is, it's the quirky guy who's gained popularity in picture books by illustrator Martin Hanford. In the books, you search for Waldo amongst a confusing crowd. He's not easy to spot even while wearing a red-and-white shirt and cap and carrying a cane.
Waldo, or Wally to some, also has a comic strip, a television series, and a video game. So, it's no wonder why he now has his own movie. The series had Waldo going from one place to another with his dog Woof and getting into all manner of adventure. The series stayed true to the book by giving segments where the viewers could spend a moment looking for Waldo in the crowd.
The premise of the movie takes off from the cartoons. Waldo will find a device that allows him to visit different places, which is pretty much like "teleportation," or "beaming" to Star Trek fans. Anyway, the story is likely as simple as that with the villain, Odlaw, trying to get the device for himself. But I'm really just speculating. Until such time when there's a movie trailer already airing, we can only speculate as to what the device will do to Waldo.
It will need a bit of writing ingenuity to craft a story where the viewers would have to look for Waldo on the movie screen. But if the movie were to be in 3D, then that would be something else. Just imagine looking for Waldo in a scene where there are lots of people and other confusing visual elements. It can either give you the thrill out of movie-watching or a big headache.
The Where's Waldo movie is directed by John Schultz.
