The Collector Is a Horror Movie about Avoiding Dismemberment

Writer-Director Marcus Dunstan was once credited for having used the most-fake blood in a student movie. Together with friend and fellow screenwriter Patrick Melton, he won in the third season of Project Greenlight and the result was the bloodfest called Feast. Well, several movies later, including Saw IV, Melton is at it again helming another movie with more bloodletting. It’s called The Collector and the title can already give you the creeps if you know the kind of movies Dunstan makes.
Like in his other horror movies, The Collector takes place in a house where all the blood gets spilled. In the story, a man has to repay his wife for something and sets out to rob his employer’s summer house. The problem is that someone else has broken in first and it’s not an ordinary thief who’s simply out to steal stuff from the house. This one is masked and is really either evil or demented (or both), and he’s turned the house into his own playground of fear, with booby traps and other macabre instruments of dismemberment ready to snap at the hapless victims. We can only wonder what he’s “collecting.”
The players in this maze of doom laid down by The Collector, are of course, the inhabitants of the house who our unlikely hero tries to save, and all the while trying to save his skin as well. How he solves his problems and outwits The Collector is what will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. But the real thrill is what happens when the two come face to face and the true identity of The Collector is revealed. Shocking! Will someone walk out of the house alive and still sane? Anybody game for The Collector 2?
