New Clash of the Titans Movie Is In-Your-Face Raw Entertainment

[LEFT]Some of you may remember the first Clash of the Titans movie. One of the more memorable scene is where the hero, Perseus, gets to fight the giant stop-motion scorpion. Let's not forget his battles with the giant Kraken and Medusa. On the other hand, the most boring of the scenes are those where the Titans talk on Mt. Olympus with blue disco lights in the background. The visual effects are crude, but the original movie was a hit and kids loved it.
Now there's a new Clash of the Titans and it's been upgraded with more scorpions, scary monsters, and heavy-hitting action. The trailer by itself shows how raw the new movie is and this is likely inspired by movies that came before it like 300 and even Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth. The new Clash of the Titans definitely has elements and techniques that were used before in other movies.
The new Clash of the Titans may have elements that are no longer original, but it promises to be better than the first one and caters to a broader and more adult audience. The metal music that's played in the trailer goes to show that this is no longer the same old Harry Hamlin-starrer (left) directed by Desmond Davis. This one is for an audience who demand realism in such movies based on Greek mythology - no sugar-coatings and idealistic portrayals of the Titans. The movies depicts everything as plausible, including the magic and monsters.
It's likely that audiences can expect to see more movies based on mythology and period films set in the Mediterranean. The anticipated success of movies like The Lightning Thief and the Prince of Persia could inspire more of the same movies. There was a time when Lou Ferrigno was popular as Hercules and we can only wonder who will be the next demigod hero actor (or actress). In the New Clash of the Titans, Sam Worthington (left) plays Perseus. He came into the consciousness of movie viewers when he played a machine with a conscience in Terminator: Salvation. So will he be the next big actor going into the next decade of the 21st century? The success of Clash of the Titans (2010) will definitely help. It also stars Gemma Arterton from The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. She plays Io. Andromeda is played by Alexa Davalos who played Kyra in The Chronicles of Riddick.
Are the palm-eyed "gourd" monsters in the new Clash of the Titans movie inspired by the creature in Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth?
