Paul Bettany Looks Like Jason Statham in Legion Movie

Legion is a movie about the end of days when the world is supposed to be caught in the war between good and bad angels. In Legion, this war involves innocent people being possessed by evil spirits and then changing into morphing monsters with arms and jaws that can extend like Mr. Fantastic's. While the movie promises a lot of visual effects, it does take a lot of visual elements and cliches from old movies.
For one, the movie uses props like rocking horses that remind us of of the Terminator 2 movie where rocking horses in a playground were used during the nuclear explosion sequence. The hero Archangel-character Michael, played by Paul Bettany, also reminds us of an unemotional terminator-cyborg as he totes automatic machine guns in both hands while eliminating the bad guys. Strangely, he also looks like Jason Statham of the Transporter series (see picture on top) and even speaks in the same whispering manner.
Another movie that may have inspired scenes in Legion is The Exorcist. In the reissued version of the classic Linda Blair-starrer, there's a scene where the possessed girl twists here head, arms, and legs to crawl like a spider in the house. This scene is repeated in a scene in Legion where an old lady gets possessed and starts killing people, literally turning the place upside down by crawling on the walls and ceiling like Spider-Man. The lady's biting at the neck of a guy only reminds of the Evil Dead movie, directed by Sam Raimi, who by the way, also directed the Spider-Man movies.
Legion can be an interesting cinematic treat for those who are into the heaven-and-hell-at-war story premise. A lot of producers have jumped into this religion-inspired bandwagon lately, coming up with such series like Fallen and flicks like Constantine. But as we all know, they're not universal in their appeal, owing to the fact that not all movie-goers were raised on such ideas.
Nevertheless, with a lot of people subconsciously thinking about the end of the world and what could possibly happen to humankind when it arrives, this movie may just get enough attention to make people worry even more. It can also be a good weekend entertainment that will leave you thinking about a lot of things. Legion is the first movie of filmmaker Scott Stewart as director.
