Hatchet 2 – Classic Adam Green Horror
September 8th 2010 01:32
Filmmaker Adam Green brings us another horror movie opus in Hatchet 2, where our deformed hatchet psycho murderer, Victor Crowley, lives again. This time, however, he’s the one being hunted. Marybeth returns to the swamp where her family was butchered in the hopes of retrieving the bodies and to exact revenge. Is she up to the task?
Marybeth just couldn’t bury the “hatchet” and she eventually learns of her family’s connection with the killer and hires a group of hunters or mercenaries to get to Victor Crowley. But of course, since this is a “slasher” horror film, we all know that the members of the group will only end up as Crowley’s victims and fall under the axe.
Hatchet 2 stars beautiful Danielle Harris as Marybeth. Harris is known to horror aficionados as the actress who’s also appeared in two other classic slasher flicks, namely Halloween 4 and Halloween (2007). Notably, the Hatchet 2 also features Tony Todd (left) who’s best known for his portrayal of an avenging ghost in Candyman. In Hatchet 2, Todd plays a character named Rev. Zombie and in this movie, he is the one who gets to be fearful for his life. Zombie recalls how he was sued by a kid in a tour group after an accident which was apparently caused by something seen in the woods—a pair of staring eyes. Of course, we can all guess who those eyes belong to!
Hatchet 2 is written and directed by Adam Green who’s famous for his work on feature film Coffee & Donuts which he made for only $400 with borrowed equipment. This shows how passionate he was in making it big in the Hollywood film industry while working as a DJ at the famous Rainbow Bar and Grill on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. He was also the lead singer of a metal band called Haddonfield in Salem Massachusetts.
Hatchet 2 is your classic Adam Green horror film. Green’s passion for horror revolves around simply giving people entertainment. One of his famous lines is: “Remember, at the end of the day we're not curing cancer. We're just making life more entertaining before we get cancer.” He also doesn’t like it when horror fans turn rowdy and try to outdo each other like they’re in a pre-wrestling match. He likes it when he brings fans together for fun and a good get together. Green was also responsible for the thriller/horror movies Hatchet (2006), Spiral (2007), and Frozen (2010). He’s a director who’s really good at what he does and definitely someone to watch.
