Chloe is an erotic movie by Atom Egoyan, the same director who brought us Exotica (1994), a movie that’s about a lap dancer that sows intrigue and danger in the life of a frequent customer. Now here’s Chloe (2010), and it’s about an escort who turns the life of a husband and wife (Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore) upside down through seduction and desire.

As a professional escort, Chloe is hired by Moore’s character, Catherine, a doctor, to seduce her husband David who she suspects of cheating. Chloe agrees to the contract and does her job well—too well in fact, and as she recounts her amorous trysts with David in detail with Catherine, her escort talents kick in and she ends up seducing the wife as well. Catherine submits to hidden desires and ends up being the cheater.

Catherine then seeks to end the business with Chloe, but her transgressions haunt her with pictures that ended up visible online. Now the tables have turned and she’s now the one who has something to hide from David. What’s a wife to do? David role doesn't seem to have much weight once something happens between Catherine and Chloe. But the story doesn't end there, you know.

Chloe is really a different film take of another film that came out in 2003. It was titled Nathalie and starred Gerard Depardieu and Emmanuelle Beart. Directed by Anne Fontaine, the movie is basically Chloe made for the French. Instead of an escort, the seductress (Beart) is a strip dancer in a club. The two movies essentially follow the same plot and even the scenes and circumstances are the same.

Chloe is basically your erotic thriller that builds sexual tension as the story progresses. That’s really the juicy part and having Chloe played by Samantha Seyfried is one thing that audiences would pay to watch. Of course, her intimate scenes with Moore are also one part of the film that some people would line up to catch, never mind the rest of the movie. But audiences have come a long way since Madonna kissed Britney Spears on MTV. It may take more than a mature and a younger woman kissing to haul an audience and make Chloe a blockbuster.

Seyfried, who also stars in a tamer role in Letters to Juliet, also has a kissing scene with the star of Jennifer’s Body. You already know who that actress is. If you dig the kind of movies that make bad girls out of good ones, then Chloe is for you. It’s made for men and director Egoyan certainly knows what strings to pull. Then again, women may also like it.

TRIVIA: How are the movies "Chloe" and "Letters to Juliet", which both star Amanda Seyfried, connected? Well, the late Natasha Richardson, who was the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave, star of Letters to Juliet, was also the wife of Nesson, who stars in Chloe. Richardson died in a skiing accident at the time when Chloe was filming.
